Did you know that meditating activates your parasympathetic nervous system?
The "rest and digest" functions of this system help to slow down your heart and breathing rates, lower your blood pressure, reduce sweating, and soothe the overall functions of the sympathetic nervous system (which are categorized as "fight or flight").
Meditating is important as an every day practice to help us stay healthy, but it can also be an important tool to help us survive in dangerous situations.
This was highlighted in a 2018 news report when 12 boys from the Thai Soccer Team were all rescued from a cave in northern Thailand (where they had been trapped for two weeks).
Vox News* reported that in addition to being taught how to swim by the rescuers, their coach also taught them to meditate in order to keep calm and make it out of the perilous and deadly situation. What a wonderful gift!
This gift and this tool is available to us all, and is an important part of Holistic Health and Energy Medicine.
Meditation is taught in many of our classes at Global Academy for Energetic Education, and we would love to be able to teach you this wonderful practice!
