Let’s start with the Recipe:
1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk or other nondairy milk beverage
2 tablespoons chia seeds
2 teaspoons pure maple syrup
1/8 teaspoon almond extract
Mix all of the above ingredients in a small bowl or sealable container
Let soak overnight in the refrigerator (chia seeds will expand and soften)
In the morning, stir, and add your toppings!
Blueberries
Raspberries
Strawberries
Sliced bananas
Slivered almonds
Granola
Almost anything you like!
So just what are Chia Seeds?
They are the edible seeds that come from a flowering desert plant (Salvia hispanica).
Chia seeds originated in Central America and were a staple of the ancient Aztec diet.
They are VERY nutritious!
