We often talk about "bringing things into balance", or "finding the balance" between whatever we are dealing with in our lives.
But what does this actually mean?
What does being "in balance" look like?
In the book, Messages From The Body: a guide to the energetics of health by Dr. Iva Lloyd, RPP, RHN, ND she explains "balance" in the following way:
"When most people talk about balancing their life they are really saying that something is lacking in their life. Balancing is more about addressing the areas of deficiency and decreasing the areas of excess."
This makes sense!
To find balance, we must first address our areas of deficiency.
Where might I be deficient?
Here are some examples:
a. Not enough sleep
b. Not enough exercise
c. Not enough self-care (meditation, breathing exercises, laughter, relaxation)
d. Not enough healthy food/water
And then where might my areas of excess be?
a. Too much work
b. Too much unhealthy food
c. Too much stress
d. Too many commitments
To find balance, this is a good place to begin.
From the above lists, one way to begin to find balance would be to get more sleep (a deficiency) and let go of a few commitments (an excess).
Would you like to find balance?
Write your own personal list of what your "deficiencies" and "excesses" are, and then start to make some changes.
I think you will be pleased with the results!
